Abstract

Oral administration of 150 mg of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) resulted in a rise in plasma human growth hormone (HGH), ACTH and cortisol in most of the subjects tested. Concomitant administration of glucose with 5-HTP significantly blunted plasma HGH response, but not plasma ACTH or cortisol response to 5-HTP.
